Great product, just like my 15 year old originals!
After reading about how these Vellux originals were nothing like the actual 'originals,' I was nervous about ordering. Stink that won't wash out, stiff, faded coloring, and much fuzz loss after washing, sounded horrible. However, I am very picky about how a blanket feels. I want warmth but cannot tolerate a heavy weight pressing on me or getting tangled and bulky, and Vellux originals are the only thing that fit that bill. My Vellux originals are 15 years old and have no holes or bald spots, and I'm only changing them because I need different colors for my new home. I went ahead and ordered three new ones in Tornado Gray and Mocha, but, and I believe this is the quality difference, I only ordered from Amazon.com Supplied, not third party. They had no bad smell at all, and several family members gave the sniff test straight from the pack and agreed on that. They were a bit stiffer than my 15 year oldies but goodies, but that's to be expected. I washed them in my favorite smelling detergent and fabric softener and dried them on low heat, and they came out soft and smelling great, just about perfect. The tornado gray is medium gray, not pastel, not too dark. The mocha is a medium taupe, not brown (as one might think), and pretty much as it appeared on my monitor, not pastel, not too dark. They all look pretty, even without the comforters. There was only a small amount of fuzz in the dryer filter, about the size of a large olive when balled up, and that seems better than expected for a first wash, in my opinion. Don't know how they will compare in holding up over the years, but, so far, they seem to be the same excellent quality.
